A Superhero Summer At The Movies
2017 started strong thanks to some comic book heroes lending a hand. Fans and critics alike embraced Hugh Jackman’s farewell in the R-rated Logan, while The LEGO Batman Movie has proven entertaining for audiences young and old.
As the calendar shifts towards the blockbusters of summer, superheroes will make their presence felt and we cannot wait to see them on the big screen!
Guardians of The Galaxy, Vol. 2
The crew of the Milano returns for another action-packed, hilarious space adventure. This time, the Guardians face off against Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki), a genetically engineered being with the ability to manipulate cosmic energy.
Trying to save the galaxy for a second time, Gamora, Drax, Rocket and Baby Groot will be sorting out their relationships with each other, while Peter Quill aka Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) will finally find out about his mysterious father. The adventure begins May 5.
The warrior princess made quite an entrance in last year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. In her first stand-alone film in the DCEU, we get to learn more about her backstory and past adventures. Gal Gadot reprises her role as Wonder Woman, showing her first explorations into “the world of men” and working to save the planet from the horrors of World War II and the machinations of Ares, the god of war. Wonder Woman hits theaters June 2.
Spider-Man’s always been more of a “local” hero, somebody keeping New York safe while big heroes are off saving the world or galaxy. But how are you going to keep him in Queens when he’s already battled with the Avengers in Captain America: Civil War?
For Peter Parker (Tom Holland), finding his place in the ranks of superheroes is going to be just as much of a trial as getting through his classes. Spider-Man: Homecoming swings into theaters on July 7.
The third movie featuring the God of Thunder takes Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a road trip across realities trying to find his hammer, Mjolnir, and his father, Odin, in time to save Asgard from the wrath of the long-imprisoned Hela (Cate Blanchett).
Along the way, he’ll meet new friends such as Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), make new enemies such as Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum), and settle the question once and for all of who would win in a fight: Thor or the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). Thor: Ragnarok opens November 3.
Wonder Woman reappears on screen this winter, along with Batman (Ben Affleck), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher), to take on Darkseid’s uncle and Apokolips general, Steppenwolf (Ciaran Hinds), and prevent him from finding the artifacts he needs to destroy the Earth. One of the most anticipated movies of the year, Justice League opens November 17.
